AboutTHE JUSTICE FOUNDATION OF WEST MICHIGAN
OUR MISSION
The Justice Foundation exists to serve West Michigan, supporting programs that:
- Promote professional excellence in the practice of law
- Educate the public about constitutional rights and the rule of law
- Improve access to legal services Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession and administration of justice
WHY IT MATTERS
Justice is not self-sustaining. It requires a community that understands its rights, values the rule of law, and works to ensure fairness for all. The Justice Foundation of West Michigan provides critical financial support for programs that educate, engage, and equip both the public and the legal profession to uphold these ideals.
OUR IMPACT
-
3Rs: An average of 150 ninth graders in GRPS schools meet monthly with a legal professional to discuss the Constitution and the students’ “Rights, Responsibilities, and Realities” through practical civic education.
-
Constitution Day: Every year more than 200 fifth grade students receive their own pocket Constitutions and volunteer attorneys teach students their rights, fostering a stronger understanding of civic responsibility at an early age.
-
Community Support: Annually, the JFWM celebrates the outstanding service performed by an organization or non-lawyer citizen who has given their time and energy to strengthen the effectiveness of the American system of freedom under law through both the Liberty Bell Award and a financial gift to further their work.
