EFFECTIVE CROSS-EXAMINATION
(AND DIRECT EXAMINATION OF THE UNRULY WITNESS)
The Sixth Amendment guarantees the right to the assistance of counsel in all criminal prosecutions. The right to counsel must include the right to an attorney with the skill, training, and knowledge to challenge the government’s evidence and to present a defense. The GRBA—MIDC committee is pleased to offer a one-hour presentation on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 12 pm – 1pm, as Bryan Waldman will offer effective cross-examination techniques as well as tips on how to conduct a direct examination of an “unfriendly” witness.
Bryan is the President of the Sinas Dramis Law Firm (Sinas, Dramis, Larkin, Graves & Waldman). He has represented plaintiffs in personal injury cases for over 28 years. He was the President of the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association from 2003-2004 and serves as an ACLU cooperating attorney (Hightower et al. v. City of Grand Rapids). Bryan has litigated cases in over 40 venues/jurisdictions. In 2003, he obtained a verdict in Ingham County for $10,680,000 - more than 5 times the previous largest verdict in the county at the time. Bryan is also an adjunct professor at MSU law school, has been invited to be a guest speaker at U of M Law and Wayne State Law, and he has lectured on numerous litigation topics to lawyers.
The session will be virtual. The link will be available on the Grand Rapids Bar Association event page a couple of days before, along with the CLE credit forms. Please join us and earn 1 MIDC credit. Along with your attendance, the credit forms must be sent to dawn@grbar.org to receive proper credit. If you have any technical questions, please email kenneth@grbar.org
We look forward to seeing you.
