2010 Diversity Roundtable: Retention of Diverse Attorneys
On March 9, 2010, the Grand Rapids Bar Association, in collaboration with many local partners, sponsored a Roundtable on the Rentention of Diverse Attorneys. The Roundtable explored the importance of fleximbility and diversity in the recruitment and retention of women attorneys and attorneys of color, as well as the business and economic benefits that can be realized by a diverse organizations.
Robert Grey Jr., partner at Hunton & Williams, former American Bar Association President and current Interim Executive Director of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, will provide insight on practical steps being taken by leading firms to meet the challenge of minority and female attorney retention.
Cynthia Thomas Calvert, co-director of Project for Attorney Retention, and a practicing attorney, will discuss the results of the joint study completed by PAR and MCCA, while discussing retaining women in the workforce and the need for flexibility.
